Embodied Living

Safety, Belonging, and Dignity are inherent, biological needs. Yet, there are so many who do not have an embodied sense of these needs.  Many have experienced a rupture in one or more of these needs due to trauma, oppression, & power over systems. Eventually, we must realize that though safety, belonging, and dignity are essential to our very existence, they are not granted to us by our social structures and we must learn how to provide them for ourselves. We must realize the pain of the protective, survival strategies that we developed in response to these ruptures and the impact that they have on the way that we move through life. We must learn how to develop boundaries that protect us from harm without shutting out the parts of life that are nourishing & beautiful. We must learn how to move out of reactionary survival strategy and move into responses that are accurate in the present moment and aligned with what is most important to us. We must create spaces where we can feel free to be ourselves and pursue the things that we long for.

This Embodied Living workshop will explore the complexity of safety, belonging & dignity. We will unpack questions of:

What does safety mean in a world where prejudice, oppression, coercion, violence, war, & poverty exist?

What does it mean to belong?

Why do so many people experience loneliness even when they are in relationship to others?

How do we embody our inherent dignity?

How do we dignify another?

How do we generate safety for ourselves so that we may shift out of reactions and into centered responses that are accurate in the present moment?

We will learn somatic practices to create safety, belonging, & dignity for ourselves including how to develop embodied boundaries, how to move & take action from our center, authentically consent, & make centered requests, how to heal shame, remember our inherent resilience, and more.

Please join me in this vital exploration of regenerating safety, belonging & dignity for ourselves & each other.
